City Funded Their Comcate Investment with Safe Streets Grant Funding
Apr 27,2010
The City of Salisbury Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance Department has publicly announced their Comcate code enforcement software implementation. They funded their investment with a recent award from the Safe Streets Grant program. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley stated that “Comcate demonstrates the importance and effectiveness of performance-based government.” Comcate improves the effectiveness of resources and outcomes for citizens. Its web-based model allows officers to access and manage inspections from their car laptops and view case history and use requirements in the field. It helps officers and departments communicate and manage their time better, letting them spend more of their time doing inspections rather than traveling to the office to manage cases and schedule inspections. NSCC Director Tom Stevenson credits the software with helping his officers in their efforts to make the City a safer place to live. Many cities find that crime is better controlled when properties are maintained and that effective code compliance is key to this effort. Problem areas can be identified with Comcate’s GIS mapping and resources can be focused where most needed. Director Stevenson said, “The recent acquisition of mobile computer terminals and supporting Comcate Code Enforcement software will certainly increase the department’s ability to accomplish our mission.
