The City of Pacific Grove recently unveiled two new features on its Web site, which already has many City records available for downloading. One is CityCalendar, a searchable schedule that allows users to find listings of special events, council and committee meetings and even street closures.

"It's really our move toward e-government," said Nat Rojanasathira, intern for the City Manager. "It's a way to get information to the public quicker."

Access Pacific Grove allows users to submit complaints and requests "from pothole reports to planning questions" and track their progress online. Even when a request is called in, Rojanasathira said, city staff now enter it into the program so its progress can be tracked.

Since it was launched a month ago, the city gets a "couple dozen" messages a week, Rojanasathira said. "We hope more people will use it," he said. He said the city is looking to add other functions such as permit applications. (...)

Comcate also markets a "code enforcement" program that Rojanasathira said the city would like to acquire, "but there are always budget problems." (...)
