Progressive, Proactive Department Implements State of Art Software
Dec 4,2007
The Setting: Known in its early days as "Atlanta's Favorite Summer Resort," Norcross is a dynamic and vibrant community which cherishes and preserves its past, while enthusiastically redefining its future. Founded in 1870 by John J. Thrasher and named for his good friend Jonathan Norcross, a pioneer and former mayor of Atlanta, Norcross is the second oldest city in Gwinnett County, and the first city in Gwinnett to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With a diverse population of nearly 11,000, the City of Norcross encompasses 4.5 square miles, and features a 112-acre historic district and a significant business community. The City is emerging as a leader in new urban redevelopment with the construction of the community park in the heart of its downtown historic district. The Solution: Norcross chose to implement Comcate’s Code Enforcement Manager software in their trucks that are equipped with laptops and printers. Officers are now able to communicate with each other directly, record all violations and update notes in the field as they speak to residents and business owners. They can do research while in the field and attach pictures and documentation to individual cases. Officers no longer need to write violation notices by hand. Norcross officers now feel that Comcate CEM gives them more time to do their job as they are no longer obligated to return to the office to complete cases or do research.
